Focused on conservation and environmental awareness and later on became part of the process of developing environmental education.

ii. (IUCN) Thomas Pritchard, Deputy Director of the Nature Conservancy in Wales(1948)

Uses the term <environmental education= at the Conference for the Establishment of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in Paris, October 1948. Non-formal education occurs in the home and community contexts and takes many forms, including environmental sustainability stories, songs, practices, and cultural events. Non-formal EE can also be linked to the curriculum and used to supplement the formal EE taught in schools and universities.
