‘Marakastra’ Review: Malashree comes back again to fight injustice
Oct 13, 2023 | Kannada , News , Reviews
It’s been quite some time since the fans of ‘Action Queen’ Malashree were missing her favourite actress in action mode. Now the actress is back for what she is known for the most, bashing up goons like never before.
The film starts off with Shankar (Nataraj) a kind hearted professor and his wife charged with the murders of their two daughters. They undergo treatment for their erratic behaviour under police custody. Meanwhile, the city witnesses a series of high-profile murders including a doctor, lawyer, DC and a police officer. The police commissioner appoints Jahnavi (Malashree) to investigate the case.
Jahnavi in her pursuit to seek the truth starts the investigation. She happens to close in on Bharath (Anand Arya), an orphan who runs an old age home. Jahnavi finds out that Bharath is present during all the murders, but during investigation it is revealed that he has nothing to with all the murders. So, who is behind all this? ‘Marakastra’ has all the answers.
‘Marakastra’ is an out and out action film with loads of action, mass elements, songs, black-magic and what not? Director Gurumurthy Tsunami has added all the ingredients, particularly heavy loaded action sequences to please Malashree’s fans. The pre-interval and climax are action packed. The murder and black magic sequences are quite tiring and leaves a gruesome impact on the audience. The film is 157 minutes in length and the songs are distracting from the original plot.
The film does have its share of plus points also. Particularly the ‘Bharath Yatra’ song which is shot in multiple exotic locations of India is a treat to watch. High voltage action scenes are another thing to watch out for in the film. Though the action sequences look forced and stretched with each action sequence running for more than 10 minutes, the stunt choreographers have done a good job.
These kind of roles and films are sure a cakewalk for Malashree and the actress pleases her fans with her comeback film. This time the actress has dubbed her own voice, which is not in sync with her role. Anand Arya bears a striking resemblance to Puneeth Rajkumar but falls short of matching his stature. Harshika has nothing much to do. Mico Nagaraj, Ayyappa Sharma, Shivamani, ‘Ugram’ Manju and others have done their bit. Producer Nataraj is not only seen in a prominent role, but also has sung a song for the film. The background score is noteworthy.
On the whole, ‘Marakastra’ is a treat for not only Malashree fans but all action lovers. It’s a definite watch if you are one among the two.
